RRP $25 - New Hardcover edition at the same price
This book is the revised combination of Dr Tabrizian’s first two booklets “Nutritional Medicine: Fact and Fiction” and “Another Dose of Nutritional Medicine” with the addition of a section on Manganese and now published in paperback format.
Subjects covered are the trace elements, the toxic elements, Coenzyme Q10, Cancer, Chronic Fatigue, Diabetes, Depression, ADD and most importantly of all the politics of Natural Medicines today.
Expertly illustrated and extensively referenced, this book captures the knowledge and spirit of Nutritional Medicine today. With humour to match the breadth of the subject matter, it is both informative and entertaining. Overall, perhaps the best description of this text is "cheekily insightful".
Magnesium, Zinc, Iron, Copper and Other Trace Elements
RRP $28
After a five year journey through the annals of Nutritional Medicine, Dr Igor Tabrizian has successfully simplified a vast amount af data into bite-sized digestible pieces in this well illustrated and experetly presented text.
The "killer" graphics make difficult concepts simple and are backed up by clinical and personal research. Many slides from his famous lecture series are included as are many selections from his Practioner's compendium (which is provided onl;y to doctors in his apprenticeship scheme).
This book is a "must have" for any students of Nutritional Medicine. It is the "essence" of the sections on minerals from the Visual Textbook of Nutritional Medicine.
Degenerative Diseases of the Brain: Nutritional Interventions
(Alzheimers, Parkinsons and Multiple Sclerosis)
RRP $28
This book presentation of the lecture looks at the nutritional aspects of normal brain function as well as the current models of neurodegenerative disorders. With progressively more understanding of the biochemistry of the brain we are able to prevent crippling disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and even Multiple Sclerosis.
There are nine "puzzle pieces" that we need for understanding the brain. And for each of the conditions you might research, one of these nine pieces, may well be more important than another, they involve things like glial cell and nerve cell interactions, amino acid metabolism, functional deficiencies, membrane physiology, oxidation state management, epigenetics, tissue co-operation, mineral metabolism and metallo-toxicology. This book looks at these nine things first before looking at any particular condition.
The next thing about the central nervous system, the CNS, is that it has three points of vulnerability. The first is the need to make brain chemicals (neurotransmitters), next is networking (and this is a huge thing, very poorly understood at the moment because of the limitation of how we can model networking) and last is lifespan (apoptosis).
Based on this, nutritional interventions may be used to halt the progression of, and even reverse the disease process.
Brain Foods, Brain Poisons: Autism as a Case in Point
RRP $28
This book is a presentation of Dr Igor Tabrizian lecture on Autism to a well-informed Sydney audience in November 2004, . The attendees gained insight into how clinical nutritionists examine the mechanisms and formulate treatment schedules for Autism. The lecture was again complemented by his “killer” graphics which made the difficult concepts simple.
Examining the roles of important nutrients like zinc, copper, amina acids, vitamin B6 and vitamin C, in normal human development, the lecture looked at normal brain function with regard to nutritional needs of the mother and the child. It examined the importance of tissue co-operation such as hormones, gut and brain in ensuring correct development of all the tissues in the growing child. It examined the role of tests such as hair analysis in the correction of problems like Autism.
But in particular the lecture looked at where brain function goes wrong in Autism and more importantly why this is happening as a global epidemic. It examined the roles of genetics and antioxidants in the prevention and treatment of Autism and looked at the roles of toxic metals in the genesis of the disease and how these generate the symptoms of Autism.
