Medical Clinic
Dr Igor Tabrizian is currently seeing patients at the Health Quest Medical Clinic. He specializes in applying the principles of Nutritional Medicine to Autism and other behavioural conditions in children, depression, insomnia and anxiety or panic attacks in adults as well as other conditions requiring special investigation and diagnosis.
The Nutritional Medicine approach is unique in that it deals with the mechanisms of disease by analysing alterations in biochemistry. By a combination of blood and hair samples the reasons for the symptoms are elucidated and the mechanism of how the body's biochemistry has changed is uncovered. Treatment then involves short "top-ups" and longer-term corrections of the failed mechanisms.
The initial consultation takes 30 to 60 minutes because the patient's entire life history is examined as well as family history and results of any other tests that have already been performed. We then perform blood tests, tissue mineral analysis (hair analysis), urine and stool testing, saliva testing and occasionally radiology. These form part of the nutritional assessment. Each patient is also asked to fill out a detailed questionnaire before the initial consultation.

Notes for New Patients
We are not just another general clinic, our approach is specialised and it is important for you to understand and be comfortable with our methods and philosophy before deciding to make an appointment. This is to ensure you know what you can expect from us and the costs and other factors associated with our treatments.
- You may need to wait several months for a first appointment. There are no nutritional emergencies - anyone with an "emergency" will be referred to another doctor.
- If you are expecting a "quick fix" with a few vitamins on the first visit, then we are not the clinic for you. We try to find out why things happen. We explain the why to you. This takes time.
- All patients need a good grasp of English to understand what the investigations and treatment entail. This type of medicine needs good comprehension on the part of the patient.
- Responsible adults pay their bills and keep their appointments. We expect you to be early for appointments, especially the first one. One late patient throws out the entire day and reduces the quality of care.
- We do make provision for pensioners and health care cardholders, but we do not bulk-bill. Medicare will not pay for any supplements.
- Veteran’s Affairs patients need to pay on the day. We do not see patients under worker’s compensation or motor vehicle trust claims unless the patient agrees to pay privately.
